During a one-week residency at HORST Arts & Music, I worked alongside artist Delphine Dénéréaz to build CANOPY, a large-scale woven textile installation for the festival grounds.
HORST is an arts and music festival in Vilvoorde, Belgium, bringing together contemporary art, electronic music, architecture, and experimental spatial practices. Its environment becomes a meeting point between artistic experimentation, community, and landscape.
CANOPY was conceived as a playful bridge between the inside and outside worlds. Through colourful woven textile panels, the installation created an immersive landscape that felt bright, childlike, and whimsical—inviting visitors to move through and inhabit the work rather than simply observe it.
Over the course of the week, we worked collectively through the processes of weaving, assembling, and installing the textile panels on site. The residency became a hands-on exploration of how simple gestures of making, repetition, and collaboration can transform a space and create a shared world within it.
